The ancient mythological story of the seduction of Europa, daughter of a Sumerian king, who was abducted on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea by the bull-turned-god Zeus, is brought to life in a brilliant bronze and stone depiction. Zeus disappears with Europa into the sea (horizontal stone) and swims with her to ancient Crete (vertical stone), where he makes love to her.
The sculpture is an exceptional work by internationally renowned artist Mik Simcic.

Portraits of Pope Francis
Mik had the honour of being invited by Pope Francis to create a sculptural portrait of him in Carraro marble stone, resulting in the largest series of portraits of a living Pope in the history of Vatican. The seven bronze busts he produced show the pope’s various spiritual states and were thus appropriately named the "Seven Endless Moments of Pope Francis". One of these busts was carved out of white Carrara marble and gifted in person at a private audience with the pope in June 2019.

The sculpture "The Birth of Venus – the New Era" is Mik's response to the gloom, decadence and spiritual shallowness we are witnessing again in our time. He has symbolically returned for inspiration to the 15th century Renaissance, for which one of the key representations of the spirit of Western civilisation was the painting The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli. Mik transformed this magnificent painting into a 2 metre high sculpture, carved from Carrara marble in the technique of the great master Michelangelo.
